We were genuinely entertained and glad we went. The evening entertainment shows were fun and the talent was impressive, especially for small cast-shows. They even set up a nightclub experience for my adult-children so they could go clubbing in town one evening! Huge thank you to Alejandra and Noe from the Entertainment team - they both made our experiences delightful and personal. They made to activities fun and light-hearted for all participants. All ages and activity level were encouraged to participate, without any uncomfortable pressure to do something you didn’t want to do. The Entertainment team was so much fun and high energy. Activities The offered activities and entertainment also exceeded expectations. A quick shout out to Antonio and Oliver who made our breakfast each morning a delightful experience! And if you feel like staying in or wake up hungry, there is 24 hour room service available- all of these options with no surcharge. At each restaurant, the food was fantastic and the service was even better. The buffet in the morning had something for everyone. Food The restaurants are plentiful, easy to get into for every mealtime and the food is outstanding! We had everything from surf & turf at Oceana, to escargot and duck at the French restaurant, to shrimp risotto and tiramisu at Capri (Italian restaurant) and finished the week with dinner at the Japanese restaurant where a chef cooked at our table. Please also note that this is an adults-only resort. To help give context to my review, please note that I traveled with my adult son and his fiancé.
I have never felt so warmly welcomed by a resort and I cannot wait to return. If “All-Inclusive” means that the staff makes the guests feel like long-lost friends who have reunited for fun times and good food, then Secrets Vallarta Bay will exceed your expectations. Overall lovely holiday but having been to Caribbean last three years Mexico does not have the same sort of feel about it as the islands. Hotel gets busier at weekends as Mexicans tend to arrive Did not use beach but clean and sellers won’t cause you an issue at all if you don’t want to buy anything. But this was not a busy time of year so don’t know how it would be when full. All staff excellent and very helpful, food and drink fine and never had a problem getting a sunbed. On all tours even via TUI you have to get a taxi to the meeting point, about 100 Peso each way, coaches not allowed to go round picking up from hotels. Buy gifts at local Walmart store as cheaper, a short taxi ride. We we told best time to visit is Nov to April when humidity a lot better. In fact apart from rooms and 24hour coffee shop not A C. The trouble is the resort was built open plan which is lovely for the views but cannot be air conditioned. And met several people who said the same.
Biggest issue is the humidity which is nearly 100%, and some evenings even at ten o clock was unbearable, some nights we had to take our drink to our room. To be fair after a night or two did not worry us to much. Often you can hear two different bands at the same time, one in Secrets and one in Now (which is bang next door). So given lobby and bars on third floor very noisy if you want to try and sleep before midnight. And be aware TUI will only allow their guests to stay on fifth and sixth floors no higher. Not a place to come for a quite location as very lively all day and all night. So to the hotel, probably four star not five, only six years old, looks older in places. We payed for a private transfer but only a taxi of the rank and you could get one yourself for 120 Peso each way.
TUI reps not allowed in terminal building so once you have your luggage head straight outside to meet them and avoid all other people who will try and stop you. Returned yesterday after two weeks with TUI so will review from a UK perspective as most reviews by others who only tend to stay four or five nights FIrst make sure you keep your receipt for your landing card as you will need on return as if you dont it will cost you 500.00 Peso a person to replace as I found to my cost.
